Did Roman Reigns Apologize to the WWE Locker Room?
By Josh.0
Before departing for his suspension, Roman Reigns was ordered by Triple H to admit his mistake and apologize to his peers. Or did he?
The suspension of Roman Reigns was such a big deal for the WWE that not only was it mentioned quite substantially on RAW, it may have even affected the outcome of his PPV match against Seth Rollins. You can’t very well have the current title holder serving a 30-day suspension, can you? We still don’t know exactly what illegal substance Reigns had in his body but according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he was ordered by Triple H to apologize in front of the entire locker room.
Maybe.

According to the WON, the order was delivered from Triple H via Mark Carrano. This would make sense since Triple H comes from a time where the infamous “wrestler’s court” held sway over these sorts of dealings, regardless whether they were public knowledge or not. These men and women are on the road 52 weeks a year and have the inside scoop on more dirt and personal drama than we will ever see on a single episode of Total Divas.

However, another wrestling website suggests the apology didn’t happen at all. WrestleZone is disputing the WON report and claims that a source inside the locker room says that Reigns “simply packed his bags and left following the June 20th RAW taping.”
It is entirely possible for both reports to be correct. Triple H may have indeed forced Roman to apologize to certain members of the locker room, most likely the people he works with on a regular basis. On the flip side, WrestleZone did not reveal their source of information, so it may very well be a lower-tier talent who did not receive a ticket to the apology tour. It would be incredibly humbling for Roman Reigns to apologize to Bo Dallas.

Apologies, by their very nature, are indeed humbling. You are publically displaying an admission of weakness and vulnerability that makes some people extremely uncomfortable. To avoid this, people will use the phrase, “I apologize” which is not the same thing as saying “I’m sorry”. Try it for yourself and see how many times people use the “apologize” phrase because it’s the easy way out.
As the heavyweight champion – and therefore de facto face of the brand – Reigns apologizing to his fellows superstars would be the right decision and one that he should have volunteered on his own. A real leader not only owns up to their mistakes in private, but isn’t afraid to stand in front of subordinates and fully admit them. It happens to everyone placed in such a position sooner or later and the way in which you handle those situations can go a long way in determining how you are viewed and respected.

I have no doubt that Triple H takes this view of accountability not just for Reigns but anyone who has been given the same opportunities in WWE so I’m siding with WON on this particular story. Everyone needs to understand that these sorts of violations don’t simply come with a 30-day vacation and then it’s back to business as usual. Whether he apologized to the locker room or not, Reigns will use these 30 days to finish every crumb of his humble pie before coming back to work and trying to repair his image.
