WWE Draft 2016: Should Enzo Amore and Big Cass Be Split Up?

Should one of WWE’s best tag teams be split up during the 2016 WWE Draft?

Cast your minds back to 2002. The inaugural WWE Draft saw every man and woman on the WWE roster assigned to either Raw or SmackDown. At the time Raw was run by Ric Flair, and SmackDown was run by Vince McMahon. This was the first time WWE had held the brand split and fans were intrigued as to what might happen and where their favorite superstars would end up.

As part of the Draft, Flair picked Bubba Ray Dudley as his number 7 pick. McMahon immediately followed that pick by choosing D-Von Dudley. Fans were shocked, for the first time in years, The Dudley Boys would be singles stars. How would they survive, what would they do, would the fans care. The real highlight of the whole saga was the fact that D-Von was christened “Reverend D-Von” and had Deacon Batista as his second,we all know what happened to that more than capable sidekick.

Before the end of the year, The Dudley Boys were reunited and the fans forgot about the entire thing. We could be about to see something just as shocking in the 2016 WWE Draft.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy became one of the most loved tag teams in the history of NXT, despite the fact that they never held the NXT Tag Team titles. The combination of both men’s charisma, and their excellent in ring ability was part of what carried them into the hearts of the NXT fans, well that and the fact that Enzo and Cass have one of the most entertaining ring entrances in the history of WWE.

When they were called up to the main roster, in the aftermath of WrestleMania, they carried on where they left off in NXT and have quickly become a staple on the main roster. Finding themselves thrust into feuds with The Dudley Boys, then teams like the Vaudevillians and The New Day, they are now joining John Cena in a six-man tag match against The Club trio of AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows at the upcoming Battleground.

But what if before then WWE decides to split up the team of Enzo and Cass. What if they end up on different shows and are never to be tag team partners again? Well in all honesty that would be ridiculous thing to do.

At a time when WWE is looking to establish two separate brands, that in storyline terms are meant to be competing with each other, they need the well-established stars to be the backbone of the two brands. Not to break up one of the best teams, regardless of how much they want one man to be a star over the other.

The one thing that may worry some fans is how Big Cass was booked when Enzo was out injured not long after their debut on the main roster. It looked as if WWE (read Vince McMahon) was desperate to pull the trigger on Cass as a singles wrestler, his size and in ring ability make him a good candidate for a main event run. If Cass was to be given a shot at the top of the card, it should be with Enzo at his side. The two of them are stars, as a team they are so much better than either would be as a solo artist.

With all the work they have put in as a team, right back from their early days in NXT, now is not the right time to have them split as a full time team. Admittedly in the future nobody would want to see either man hold the other back, but in the here and now, Enzo and Big Cass need to continue as a tag team, and they need to hold the WWE Tag Team titles before the end of 2016.
