Can Cesaro Survive on WWE Raw?
By Jay Sichler
With a full roster of stars and crowded mid card, can Cesaro truly make a name for himself on the flagship show?
Tuesday night, we saw plenty of shockers during the WWE Draft. Superstars that people thought were gonna go to RAW went to Smackdown, and vice versa. One of the more shocking picks of the night was when Cesaro got drafted to RAW.
Many fans believed that Cesaro was destined to be drafted to Smackdown. With his wrestling background and his relationship on the indies with Daniel Bryan, it seemed he would go to this show.

However, Cesaro was instead picked by RAW with one of their final picks on the television part of the draft. It was a rough night for him as he also lost to Chris Jericho earlier on SmackDown. The Swiss Superman had been pitching on how he wanted to go to the Tuesday program, over the last few weeks.
Cesaro showed his frustration about going to RAW during an interview backstage during the WWE Network part of the draft. He stated that not only was he upset that he was drafted to RAW but that he was picked so late in the draft.
The former U.S. Champion also didn’t want to have the politics on whether Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon would be able to work with one another. He claimed that he was gonna go look at the glass half full and be happy that he was drafted to the flagship show.

With RAW being the flagship show and it now being crowded with a bunch of stars, the question arises will Cesaro be able to survive on RAW? Before Tuesday, I would’ve said there is no chance, however after watching his shoot promo, Cesaro now seems to have a fighting chance.
Everyone knows that Cesaro, is bar none one of the best in-ring talents WWE has. His ring work and style have been applauded by fans as some of the best the company has had in years. That has never been the problem for Cesaro. His issue has always been his microphone skills. Due to his strong accent, and his ability to stutter at times, WWE has been wary of letting Cesaro talk too much.

After seeing his shoot promo, though, I would say he certainly can talk. Cesaro mentioned his stutter and said that even though he stutters at times he can certainly talk. His promo was by far the most passion I have seen him have on the microphone since being in WWE.
With a crowded roster with stars like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, Cesaro is going to have to bring his A-Game. On Smackdown he could’ve gotten away with just wrestling. On RAW, however, he’ll need to both talk and wrestle to stay afloat.
Cesaro has come close to breaking through time after time. While going to Smackdown would’ve made ascending to the top easier for him, RAW will give him a challenge. If the former ROH star can continue his dominance in the ring, and continue to strengthen on the microphone, he could become the best sleeper pick of the draft.

Smackdown’s lost could be RAW’s gain if Cesaro continues to grow into the all-around superstar he believes he can become.
