WWE Draft 2016: How Tag Teams Should Have Been Picked
The 2016 WWE Draft was a success. However, tag teams should have been drafted differently.
With Monday Night Raw clearly getting the better end of the deal in terms of the draft, there are some discrepancies between both them and SmackDown. For every two picks SmackDown received, Raw was allowed three. Raw was also granted the privilege of hosting the cruiserweight division. With that being said, tag teams should have been designated to SmackDown for the time being at least.
With all of the rules WWE had come up with for the draft, it only seems fair for SmackDown to take on the Tag Team division, and for many reasons. The main reason being is it would have evened out the rosters. Tag teams could have been drafted as one single entity, so SmackDown would have had an opportunity to still have roughly the same amount of superstars on their roster regardless of the draft style.

Eventually, some tag teams would have gone their separate ways and boom, just like that they would have had more singles competitors. A prime example of this would have been someone like Xavier Woods. Woods has always been the odd man out in the popular tag team, The New Day. Even teams such as American Alpha or Enzo & Big Cass won’t be together forever. Down the road it would have allowed for more opportunity for singles growth. Thankfully, American Alpha are on SmackDown and will get this opportunity.

The rosters would have been more evenly dispersed and both brands would feature their own separate divisions. One of the main points of the draft was to make SmackDown relevant again. Splitting brands has certainly done so, though having more tag teams as well as the titles would have helped even more. We all know the tag team division has been making a name for itself once again. Drafting popular teams like The New Day, The Club, and Enzo & Cass could have taken it to another level.
Outside of American Alpha, what other big name tag teams does SmackDown have? They drafted the Uso brothers as well as the Vaudevillians which are some strong picks. After that, they have teams such as Breezango featuring Tyler Breeze and Fandango and The Ascension. I would also assume that the Hype Bros will be making an appearance soon with the drafting of Mojo Rawley from NXT and also the addition of Zack Ryder.
It is not by any means a weak tag team division, however, Raw ended up with the better and certainly more popular teams. They have teams such as the New Day, The Club, Enzo & Cass, as well as the Dudley Boyz. SmackDown certainly missed out on some of the bigger name tag teams WWE has to offer.

Granted, I have no doubt WWE will probably make some changes to keep fans on their toes. Perhaps it is just the sports fan in me, but there may be a possibility of some trades? WWE is making leaps and bounds, so we will see what it is they come up with next as Battleground is just around the corner. Not to mention, the first live shows featuring the new rosters.
