WWE NXT Women’s Division is Gaining Momentum

The NXT Women’s Division has just picked up with a surprise announcement during last week’s tapings.  It received the boost it needed to go to the next level.

The NXT Women’s Division was shaken up last Thursday night during the NXT tapings.  The announcement of Mickie James was returning the biggest news of the night.  Along with an appearance by Thea Trinidad and the recent debut of Nikki Cross, the division is picking up and gearing up for a resurgence.

The WWE Draft took much of the division’s players, leaving little to work with in the meantime.  Asuka continues to dominate the division, and Ember Moon’s strong debut at Takeover Brooklyn was much needed to keep the division going.  The division is rebuilding so to speak, and by the time Takeover Toronto rolls around the ladies that occupy it just may be the talk of the show in November.

Time is of the essence with other ladies such as Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Liv Morgan.  While Kay has been elevated as of late NXT is making most of their time with all of them.  It’s a slow burn, especially with Moon.  Could Moon be the one to dethrone Asuka if James can’t?

I ask this because I don’t see James coming back and taking the Championship from Asuka.  Asuka has had a dominant run and if anything defeating James would only prove how unstoppable she is in her reign.  Asuka is still undefeated and as of now, there is no one who can stop her.  Perhaps if it isn’t Moon, then who could it possibly be?

Cross, the female member of the new faction Sanity, shows that she’s not the one to be messed with.  Her wild personality and rabid quirks are something new for the women of NXT.  Dare I say she’s the female version of Mankind with the way she presents herself.  It is a matter of time before she targets the Empress of Tomorrow.  And she just may be the one to upset her.

More from NXT

Kay and Royce are targeting Asuka as well, and made an example out of Morgan on the recent episode of NXT.  However, Asuka remains confident that no one can beat her.  She is the face of NXT and it will be a huge upset the day she loses the NXT Women’s Championship.  The focus is clearly on her, and the other ladies of NXT are not that far behind.

While it is unknown about James’ status with the company after Takeover Toronto, her appearance alone give the division the rub it needs.  James is tough, and will give Asuka a good fight come Takeover Toronto.  Those that are gunning for Asuka will definitely be making their move sooner rather than later.  She is the one to beat and if anything else it poses a challenge for the ladies of NXT.

Takeover: Toronto is shaping up and it looks to bring the excitement that previous Takeovers have done.  The women of NXT have a lot to prove, and they are just getting started.  The diverse group is ready to take the Women’s Division to another level.  They will be just fine in the meantime doing what they do best.
