1. A Loss Would Officially Bury WCW Legacy
Remember when Sting made his WWE debut at the 2014 Survivor Series pay-per-view. There was a lot of excitement around WCW’s longest holdout from joining the WWE roster. His presence had an immediate impact to help establish his feud with Triple H for their WrestleMania 31 bout in 2015. And then the match happened with Sting taking the loss to Triple H.
Sting’s overall legacy perceived by younger WWE fans took a huge hit. It also continued to decline when he was fed to Seth Rollins’ lengthy WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign at the Night of Champions event later that year. Sting never had a chance to recover his legacy taking a big hit with losses in the WWE. One would hope that same fate doesn’t happen to Goldberg.
Luckily, it doesn’t look like we are seeing Goldberg’s very popular return running into the brick wall, or sledgehammer, which is the Game. But a loss to Lesnar would be just as damaging as fans would then see him fall just like all of the other WWE superstars. “Wasn’t he supposed to be unstoppable or something?”
