TakeOver Recap

We get a long look at the matches from NXT TakeOver: San Antonio in a highlight package to open the show. There was plenty to take in from a wild show on Saturday night.

Ember Moon vs. Aliyah

Result: Ember Moon defeated Aliyah via pinfall.

Rating: 2.25 out of 5 stars

Moon got a nice pop from the fans, as Texas is her home state. Commentary didn’t address this, which is a little surprising.

Moon mostly dominated Aliyah from the get-go with a few unique looking holds. She also pushed the tempo of the match at times, but still had the Canadian get in some offense. Commentary even noted how much she got to Moon, so maybe this is the start of a mini-push.

A solid win for Moon here, which continues to push her undefeated streak. There doesn’t seem to be any sign of her slowing down as the No. 2 babyface for WWE NXT, leading to an eventual NXT Women’s Championship match. It has been teased, but it may have to wait with Asuka and Nikki Cross likely set for a future battle.

Aliyah gets some spotlight here in front of the larger arena;. She didn’t come off as a total enhancement talent, not looking like she didn’t belong with Moon. There’s still a ways to go for her before receiving a push in the somewhat crowded NXT women’s division.

Tye Dillinger Interview

We get an interview from Tye Dillinger, who talked about being in the Royal Rumble match. He had properly entered at No. 10. It’s a long way from him being in a directionless tag team with Jason Jordan around two years ago.

It doesn’t seem that Dillinger is getting called up based on his presence at Wednesday’s NXT taping.
