WWE WrestleMania 33: Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar Set

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar are going head-to-head at WrestleMania 33.

On last Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman made a challenge to Goldberg for one last match at WrestleMania 33. This came one night after the 2017 Royal Rumble match, which saw Goldberg eliminate Lesnar within seconds.

For the past week, it had been promised that the former WCW star would appear on the February 6 episode of Raw to answer the challenge. Not surprisingly, he would accept it. This came during the 9:00 p.m. ET hour, which saw him interrupt a segment with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho talking about WrestleMania 33.

Afterward, Goldberg challenged for Owens’ Universal Championship. Jericho then accepted the match for KO with the title on the line. It will take place at Fastlane on Sunday, March 5.

Goldberg is going to be one busy man over the next few months, wrestling two big-time matches before he potentially leaves WWE. If anything, he’ll probably be the favorite heading into Fastlane to win the Universal Championship and defend it against Lesnar.

More from WrestleMania

If we are getting Goldberg vs. Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 for the Universal Championship, it would likely main event the show. This is even over Randy Orton and an unknown opponent for the WWE Championship. It would make for a star-studded affair to close out the Show of Shows, adding a unique twist to a head-to-head matchup we have seen before.

With Goldberg and Lesnar being the first confirmed match for WrestleMania 33, we should see the dominos begin to unfold. The first will come from the 2017 Elimination Chamber PPV on Sunday, which will see Orton’s opponent decided for the Show of Shows. It will be one of John Cena, Dean Ambrose, The Miz, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, and AJ Styles.
