Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin Need This Feud on WWE SmackDown

Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin really need this feud right now, with the Intercontinental Title in the mix. Things have been at a real standstill for both men and this is just what they need leading into Wrestlemania.

After losing the WWE Title to AJ Styles last year, Dean Ambrose has just kind of been there on Smackdown Live. Yes, he did capture the Intercontinental Title recently, in a feud that wasn’t too bad but it did not really do much for him. At Elimination Chamber he locked horns with Baron Corbin and their feud was set. This is what they both need right now, as Corbin hasn’t had much to do lately either.

With the big elimination of Braun Strowman at the Royal Rumble, Corbin needs something big to help build him up further. He isn’t quite ready to be in the main event picture yet, but they do want him to get there eventually. The man needs a good feud, to show he is someone strong and not to be messed with. Dean Ambrose is the perfect man for that, and this feud is fresh for him as well, it gives him a huge credible threat.

As we saw on Smackdown Live this week, Corbin sneak attacked Ambrose before he was set to face James Ellsworth. He dragged him out to the stage, and after a quick brawl Corbin threw him off the stage and we had some fireworks. The segment wasn’t long but it did the trick, we saw Ambrose looking for Corbin backstage and this outcome was satisfying. They have a few weeks before Wrestlemania, and setting up a big match between the two for the event works well.

There is a lot they could do in the lead up to a big match, more sneak attacks or tag matches, back and forth words between the two. This is a great chance for Corbin to work on his mic skills, which have gotten better recently but he still has a long way to go. He is the perfect candidate for a mouthpiece, and that would add so much more to this feud. Ambrose works well when he has someone to feed off of and if Corbin did have a mouthpiece it would be gold.

Whether that happens or not, Corbin needs to be built as a big monster and Ambrose can definitely sell that. Smackdown Live feels like the fresher show, and building new feuds is the way to go, as well as building future stars. It would make sense for Corbin to capture the title, and this would help him go a long way. Ambrose would benefit from this as well, it gives him more fire and motivation.

Wrestlemania is all about the big spectacle and building something for the future, last year Corbin won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and this year he could capture the Intercontinental Title. Ambrose needs a big pick up after the failure of his match with Brock Lesnar last year, if he puts on a 5-star match and loses, it does nothing to harm him. Hopefully, we will see this feud grow into something special, and be entertained for the next few weeks as we wait for Wrestlemania.
