11. Luke Harper is Added to WWE Championship Match

Luke Harper seemed like the third wheel to the Wyatt Family drama. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are bigger names than Harper, so he seemed to be off in the background for a few months. This changed when Wyatt and Orton sided together, leading to the Backwoods Brawler being singled out and removed from the group.

In the weeks since, we have seen Harper grow in popularity as a babyface and gain plenty of steam. This saw him put on an excellent match with Orton at Elimination Chamber, which was really the first time fans were able to see Harper on his own. He had a singles run in late 2014 to early 2015, but that had been when WWE strangely broke apart the first incarnation of the Wyatt Family.

A match at WrestleMania 33 seemed unlikely for the 37 year old, until Orton “refused” his WWE Championship match against Wyatt. This set up a battle royal for the upcoming episode of SmackDown, something Harper may be a favorite to win.

We’re going to roll with the idea of Harper winning here. He would get a WWE Championship opportunity at WrestleMania, something no one could have expected just three weeks ago. The story makes sense, though, with all three members of the Wyatt Family being involved and having their program culminate at the Show of Shows. Harper probably won’t win, but it’s going to be the biggest opportunity of his career.
