Is WWE Letting The New Day Burn Out?

The New Day as guest hosts for WrestleMania is a head scratcher at best.  The trio will make the most of the role, but is it the final nail in the coffin for one of WWE’s most successful teams of the last five years?

Earlier this week, it was announced that The New Day will host WrestleMania in Orlando in April.  How much of a role they will play is up in the air, but if guest hosts from the past is anything to go by I’m not sure if that is such a good thing for the trio.  The New Day is indeed entertaining and they are more than capable of putting on a great show.  But for them to not even have a match on the card, it might raise red flags for the WWE fans.

The New Day has been one of the best stories in recent years.  When Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi Kingston were paired together, the gimmick was set up to fail and many fans predicted that it was doomed from the start.  However, the three men were able to turn the gimmick into their own personal success story to which it has catapulted them beyond what anyone could have imagined.  They were over and were rewarded by becoming the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions.  Because of The New Day, wearing unicorn horns became cool, they were able to bring a fantasy cereal to life (let’s hope they can follow through with ice cream bars), and being obnoxious was the new in thing.

But while that fire is blazing, is it time for it to be put out?  Upon the WrestleMania announcement, many fans feel as if the company doesn’t have any idea what to do with them especially after they lost the Tag Team Championships.  On a positive note, The New Day is creative with the opportunities that they are given and perhaps they will make the most out of being WrestleMania guest hosts.  I’m personally hoping for a segment between them and The Rock.  But other than that, what else could The New Day do?

Time will tell as far as the trio’s future goes.  But until the next big event happens for them, there isn’t too much more The New Day can do as a team.  There is always another Championship reign; however the former Champions are nowhere close to battling for the gold once more on Raw.  Will the team make it to the next Draft and go over to Smackdown?  Or is it the end near for one of today’s most successful teams?

If there is anything else, The New Day will do what it takes to make their role at WrestleMania count.  They have been stacked against the odds before, so this will be a piece of cake for them.  But after WrestleMania will there be a new chapter written for Woods, Big E and Kingston?  All signs look to be the end for The New Day, but perhaps maybe we all should tap into the power of positivity for the time being.
