Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe

Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe came together after Seth Rollins went down with a knee injury. Despite this, there are still things to look forward to.

Pro – Remember What They Did in 2016 in NXT?

Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe aren’t old sparring partners in WWE. They had a brief feud in NXT over the No. 1 contendership to the NXT Championship, resulting in a series of matches. One of them was a 2 out of 3 falls match, which determined who would face Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. Joe won this, but in a thrilling matchup that got lost in the shuffle.

If Zayn and Joe can come anywhere close to this match from 2016, it may steal the show. This should get 10, maybe 12 minutes or so as the third or fourth most important match at Fastlane.

Con – Win or Lose, Neither Have Post-WrestleMania Direction

The WrestleMania 33 match card — at least, in the rumor mill from the Wrestling Observer — seems full. There’s Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton, John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse, and more. None of them feature Joe or Zayn, so where are they going?

When someone doesn’t have direction for WrestleMania, they head to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It’s a giant step down for these two, but unless something develops in the next few weeks, this seems like their likely destination.
