Worst: Rich Swann Didn’t Need to Do the Phoenix Splash

Rich Swann won the Kickoff Show Match against Noam Dar and Brian Kendrick for him and his partner Akira Tozawa. He won the match by hitting a Phoenix Splash. That was a mistake.

Seth Rollins is hurt right now. When Seth Rollins returns, he is going to be facing Triple H. He might not beat Triple H at WrestleMania 33, but he will beat him, either, this summer at SummerSlam, or at WrestleMania 34. When he does, the biggest payoff would be for Rollins to finally get his big, career-defining victory with a Phoenix Splash.

He’s tried the move a few times already in WWE. The first time, he connected. He hit it on John Cena at Royal Rumble 2015, unfortunately for Rollins, Brock Lesnar jumped in the ring right after and destroyed both of them.

Ever since then he has failed to connect with it. However, it’s a big move that Rollins has used very sparingly, and it’s a move that will be a big deal when Rollins finally uses it successfully. However, that gets hurt when Swann uses it to pin Dar during a Kickoff Show match.

Neville also hit one from the second-rope later in the night.

WWE usually thrives on this stuff, but they dropped the ball.
