WWE WrestleMania 33: Do The Miz and Maryse Stand a Chance of Winning?
The Miz and Maryse have a lot to gain from their match at WrestleMania 33. Is there any chance they manage to get the win?
The Miz and Maryse are going to team up at WrestleMania 33, taking on John Cena and Nikki Bella. Regardless of the outcome, Miz and Maryse stand to come out of this feud as two of the top heels in the company. Most people seem to think a Cena-Nikki win is a forgone conclusion, but it could be more complicated than that. The best thing for Miz and Maryse would be to win, and there’s a chance they could pull it off.
The most likely scenario is that Cena and Nikki have a feel-good moment. They win, Cena proposes and Miz and Maryse aren’t hurt that much by the loss, as Nikki rides off into the sunset. It’s not guaranteed, though.
Nikki can take the spotlight and Cena can propose after a loss. In fact, it might even be a sweeter moment, with Cena picking Nikki up after a loss, as her full-time career comes to an end.
That would be the better way to go, because it would really put a lot of heat on Miz and Maryse, while still allowing for that touching moment. The question is really about WWE’s willingness to pull the trigger.
Miz and Maryse’s chances rest on WWE’s view of Nikki.
Nikki’s full-time career is over. If they think she’s gonna be back for multiple runs throughout the year, she might pick up the win to keep her looking strong for when she returns. Which would make sense, if they intend to give her a Chris Jericho-like role of putting young talent over.
However, if they expect her to be out for a while, then they can have her do the job now, and people will have no problem accepting her again as a top star when she makes her return. WWE could use the opportunity to put Maryse over and create a new “queen bee” for SmackDown and Total Divas.
Putting Maryse over sets her up as a pseudo-leader of the division, and gives face champions like Becky Lynch or Naomi something to fight up against. She can still get in the ring for big matches, but largely stay away from actually getting in the ring.
Plus, while he’s not leaving due to doctor’s orders, and he could be back at any time, Cena is taking time off after WrestleMania too. The best time for a guy like Cena to lose is when he’s about to take time off. He’s still a guy who almost never loses, but with Nikki potentially in a position to lose, it’s that added bit of possibility that gives Miz and Maryse hope.
At the end of the day, this probably ends up being the feel-good match of the night. Miz will get a little spotlight time in the ring with Cena, which is much-deserved after the great year he’s had. Other than that, this will most likely be a sendoff showcase for the babyfaces, and nothing more.

Still, there’s a chance, and WWE could elevate Miz and Maryse with this match and finally have some top-flight heels that actually get the appropriate reaction and draw hatred from the crowd. We’ll find out at WrestleMania if that’s an actual priority for them.
