2. No Heel Turn for the Boss

While it is good to see Bayley go over cleanly the clumsy ordeal that was the Raw Women’s tag title match still bothers the fans. WWE would actually take a step backward this year compared to the triple threat match from last WrestleMania. The match would start well and showcased Nia as the true monster heel of the match.

However, from the moment she was eliminated, thing would start to fall apart. There was no heel turn from Sasha. There were no big spots or reversals except for a Corkscrew Moonsault by Charlotte Flair. For that reason alone, I feel like she should have won the title. Even when Bayley hit the elbow off the top rope, there was no ‘oomph’ to it.

The entire match fell flat as soon as Sasha got eliminated. The fact that the exposed turnbuckle did not go as smoothly as one would have hoped is another thing. When all was said and done, WrestleMania 33 would end up as a step backward for the Women’s revolution. The same faults would apply to the SmackDown Women’s title match as well. But at least, it ended on a high note and a good redemption story.

Had creative put a bit more thought into it the match could have been excellent. There was no shortage of talent here. Had Sasha turned on Bayley out of the blue to win the title, this match would have been under an entirely different list.
