WWE Rumors: Andrade Almas’ Main Roster Call-Up Happening Soon

There may be a spot on WWE’s main roster for Andrade Almas opening soon.

Andrade Almas has somewhat struggled to find his footing in WWE NXT. From his debut in June 2016 to the heel turn, and not being able to connect with the crowd, it’s been difficult for him. The most recent sign of this was receiving a mini-push on NXT TV, only to lose to the arriving Aleister Black at TakeOver: Orlando.

Well, it seems this will pay off for Cien soon. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscription required but recommended), he’ll be moving up to WWE’s main roster on either Raw or SmackDown “next week.” We already noted someone else who may be joining him. This comes with the “Superstar Shake-Up” happening this week on Raw and SmackDown.

Almas’ call-up is somewhat surprising since his time in developmental hasn’t been smooth. It started with his debut at NXT TakeOver: The End, going head-to-head with Tye Dillinger. Almas won as a babyface, but received boos for putting down the fan-favorite.

Over the next two-plus months, the 27-year-old floundered and couldn’t develop his face character. This led to him being destroyed by Bobby Roode at TakeOver: Brooklyn II, a match Almas had no chance at winning from the beginning.

Following this would be the heel turn. While things have gone better for him on NXT’s weekly shows since, it has resulted in losses at TakeOver: San Antonio to Roderick Strong and the previously-noted defeat to Black in Orlando.

It’s possible Almas’ act translates better to the main roster, but that depends if WWE keeps him a heel or reverts him to a face. This may take a while to determine, much like others who have been moved up. However, if we’re looking back on how his time in NXT went, how much should we expect? Will WWE even give him a push?
