Who is on the WWE Backlash 2017 Poster? (Photo)
The poster for WWE Backlash 2017 has been revealed, and it features one of the latest call-ups.
On Sunday, May 21, SmackDown Live’s WWE Backlash pay-per-view will take place from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL. It’s their first exclusive show since February’s Elimination Chamber.
On occasion, we get a controversy over the official poster WWE releases for a PPV. This happened with Royal Rumble 2017 and WrestleMania 33, as fans complained over AJ Styles’ placement on both images. Despite this, Styles still arguably had the best in-ring performance of either show, proving either his spot on the poster being improper or irrelevant.
Well, the poster for Backlash has been revealed. However, it won’t draw the ire of anyone this time around. It features Shinsuke Nakamura, who arrived to SmackDown on their post-WrestleMania 33 show. This can be seen below, via WrestleZone.com:
The promo for Backlash also heavily features Nakamura. It confirms hypes up his in-ring debut being made at the show:
Nakamura’s opponent hasn’t been officially announced, but Dolph Ziggler seems like the choice if we’re looking at the past three weeks of WWE programming. These two have had multiple in-ring segments together and went head-to-head in multiple dark matches.
Backlash will be Nakamura’s first TV match since NXT TakeOver: Orlando, which came during WrestleMania 33 weekend in early April. This saw him lose a rematch to Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship on the Saturday of the weekend, show up on SmackDown on the following Tuesday, and have his NXT send-off one week later.

Along with Nakamura’s match, we have two other bouts confirmed. Both are for championships.
Breezango will challenge the Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. This came after Tyler Breeze and Fandango won a Beat the Clock Challenge to claim the No. 1 contendership, topping American Alpha’s time by about two minutes.
Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal is the likely main event of Backlash. They’re set to battle for the WWE Championship, after Mahal won a Six-Pack Challenge to determine the No. 1 contender to the title. It’s a match that has received publicity, due to WWE increasing their presence in India and the sudden rise of Mahal to the main event scene.
