Highlights of the Division

Even though Braun Strowman is injured at the moment, he’ll be sitting on top of the rankings till the Fatal-5 Way Match concludes at Extreme Rules. None of the five men have distinguished themselves from the rest of the pack to be considered the favorite for that No. 1 Contender spot.

Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt scored a big victory over the former Shield brothers. Joe moved up one spot in the rankings with the decisive submission win over Rollins. If he secures another win in the triple threat match against Wyatt and Balor next week on RAW—he’ll shed the pretender label and be considered a dark-horse favorite at Extreme Rules.

The same could also be said for Finn Balor as well. His victory over Karl Anderson was hollow since he’s a tag team specialist and not a singles competitor. The Demon King will need to show the WWE Universe that he can beat main-event talent to justify his potential victory at Extreme Rules. He lost to Roman Reigns last week, so he’ll need to pick up some ground before the pay per view.

The match between Rollins and Reigns next week should not only determine the contender pecking order— but the favorite to win the Extreme Rules match. The former Shield members have been on a tear all year-long and this main-event match will show the world who is the man to beat the Universal Champion—Brock Lesnar.

These are the rankings for the division this week.

WWE Universal Champion: Brock Lesnar (1 Win – 1 Loss)

Contenders

  • Top Contender: Braun Strowman (7 Wins – 5 Losses) (Injured)
  • Contender No. 2: Seth Rollins (6 Wins – 4 Losses)
  • Contender No. 3: Roman Reigns (8 Wins – 8 Losses)
  • Contender No. 4: Bray Wyatt (6 Wins – 6 Losses)

Pretenders

  • Pretender No. 1: Samoa Joe (7 Wins – 5 Losses) (Moved Up 1 Spot)
  • Pretender No. 2: Finn Balor (6 Wins – 2 Losses)
