WWE Raw: Is Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman III Bound to Happen?

Are Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman set to collide once again this Summer?

Roman Reigns was notably absent from Raw this Monday. While the Big Dog has not been reported as being on the injured list, it could be that Reigns might be carrying the effects of the spectacular outing he had at WWE Extreme Rules 2017. Regardless, Reigns was not a part of the show on Monday, much like Finn Balor. This would allow someone else to take the main event spot. Whether they made the most of it or not is part of this discussion.

However, Raw did leave us with something to look forward to, next week. As announced during the show and later on WWE’s Twitter, Reigns is set to have a big announcement concerning his SummerSlam plans next week.

This could be anything from issuing a challenge to Brock Lesnar to revisiting a program with Finn Balor. Bleacher Report had some interesting ideas as to what Reigns’ announcement could be.

"What will Reigns say about the August pay-per-view? Will he challenge Lesnar, Braun Strowman or SmackDown Live’s John Cena?"

More from Raw

Reigns vs Cena would be just the big money match a PPV like SummerSlam would need. Reigns is in many ways the next John Cena. This match could very well be the passing of the proverbial torch as Cena continues to work a relaxed schedule. Moreover, this could pave way for one more battle of the brands. Last year, we saw Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar collide in the same manner. However, something else is approaching us right around the corner. That ‘something’ is often referred to as the Monster Among Men. After being sidelined with an elbow injury back in May, Braun Strowman has been away from the ring following surgery. According to PW Insider, Strowman was cleared a week ago. He will not be presented on TV until creative comes up with plans for his return.

Reigns vs Strowman is always a money match creative could revisit at any point in time. The two share excellent chemistry and their matches feature a great balance between big spots and great wrestling. Imagine the scenario where Reigns is expected to deliver his SummerSlam announcement. Instead, Strowman, who as per storyline is supposed to be out for six months, returns in a matter of one month and attacks the former Shield man savagely.

WWE can instantly build a main event level worthy match for SummerSlam with that segment. Whether creative decides to go through with it or to move Strowman to another feud is entirely up to them. The fans would surely be happy to see the big man return. Moreover, with no other programs lined up for either of these men, they could perhaps fight it out one last time to determine who will go on to face Brock Lesnar next.
