Since NXT Takeover: San Antonio, Nikki Cross has had her eyes on the NXT Women’s Championship, and tonight she gets another shot at it. The two battled it out using chairs, trash cans, tables, and ladders in what became brutal match between two very different competitors.
Early on, Nikki Cross cleverly used the apron skirt to trap and assault Asuka, giving her the upper hand. And as the match when on, Cross always seemed to be one step ahead. The constant onslaught of offense by Cross, eventually had me believing that she might pull out the upset over the reigning and undefeated women’s champion. The finale of the match included a ladder spot that dwarfed anything seen at either of the two Women’s Money in the Bank matches.
Despite Cross’s efforts, she couldn’t pull off the upset. As Asuka raised the NXT Women’s title high at the top of the ramp, Nikki Cross laughed in the wreckage psychotically smiling up at the champion. It was a great way to end their feud (maybe?) and helped make both competitors look great.
