1. The Mid-Card Needs Help

Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, Jinder Mahal, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Rusev, John Cena, and Shinsuke Nakamura are the big stars on SmackDown Live, and all of those names could conceivably be in a main event spot. If you throw Ziggler in there as someone who could feud with one of those guys as a fluid upper mid-carder, you start to see that there’s a bit of a hole in the mid-card.

While AJ Styles is the United States Champion and could feud with another upper-echelon star like, say, Nakamura, there needs to be more wrestlers in the mid-card who aren’t top stars. It’s equally important for those wrestlers to be above the level of a “jobber”, so that the fans can take them seriously as competition. Gable can be that type of guy, and a further bonus with Gable is the fact that he can wrestler night-in and night-out. And unlike someone like Tye Dillinger or Aiden English, he doesn’t have a gimmick that needs to be shielded from being over-exposed.

As a mid-carder, Gable can beat some of the lower-card wrestlers, and he can steal wins against other mid-card guys like Ziggler, Rawley, or Dillinger. It’s hard to see him defeating a Styles, Zayn, or Rusev, but Gable can hang in the ring with the best that WWE has to offer. In that sense, he’s a quality guy to have in the mid-card, and SmackDown Live’s mid-card has always been a bit lacking.
