WWE: Paige Provides Update for In-Ring Return (Video)

WWE Superstar Paige has been missing from our screens for just over a year, and fans have been questioning her return date. However, during a recent video, the former Divas Champion provided an update for her in-ring return.

The ‘Diva of Tomorrow’ has been going through, let’s just say, a rough patch in her WWE career. She’s hasn’t been seen on WWE TV for just over a year. Conversely, she has been seen, engaging in other activities. The main one being Alberto El Patron, aka Alberto Del Rio.

The love story – if you can call it that – started innocently enough. However, the relationship between the twenty-four-year-old Brit and the forty-year-old Mexican soon turned sour.

The downward spiral started when Paige was suspended, for sixty days, following her violation of the company’s wellness policy. To make matters worse, the day before her suspension, Alberto Del Rio (El Patron) was also found violating the wellness policy.

Alberto would then leave the WWE, before his thirty-day suspension was up, and Paige – in some sense – followed suit.

Following WWE’s statement on her suspension, she then denied rumors that she failed the drug test, writing “let me be clear that I was not suspended for failing a drug test, it was merely due to a procedural issue”.

If Paige’s absence from TV and her relationship with a former WWE employee wasn’t enough to annoy people in the company, this statement certainly would have done.

She then went on to propose to Alberto, following a match at a WWC show in Puerto Rico:

During this time, which explains Paige’s absence from WWE, the former Divas Champion was looking to undergo neck surgery, which Mexico’s Greatest Export noted on Twitter, as well as taking shots at the company for potentially thinking she doesn’t need the operation.

Soon after, without the company’s permission, Paige underwent neck surgery. She confirmed the news by sending out a few tweets, including a picture of Del Rio at the hospital with her:

Just as things were starting to be on the up, following her surgery, multiple nude videos and images were released involving herself, Xavier Woods, and Brad Maddox.

The incident was quickly forgotten, and reports at the time suggested that WWE’s plan was to not make any mention of the mishap. Hoping that it would ‘blow over’. As well as this, Dave Melzter noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (Subscription required but recommended) that neither employees would be affected:

"I did hear from WWE. They didn’t say anything specific, but they’re not gonna do anything to anybody. I didn’t think they would unless a sponsor complained, because number one — New Day is somewhat of a hot act. Number two — if they did, that would have to become a policy and they couldn’t bring back Hogan…"

Recently, her relationship with El Patron has gotten very rocky. Initially, some reports were released explaining that the two had broken up, then got back together. This became a normality over the next month. With fans asking questions, Paige replied:

Then, in a shocking turn of events, TMZ released audio of the two arguing in an airport. With Paige saying, “leave me the f**k alone”:

Furthermore, according to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Paige may be charged with battery over the airport incident, not Alberto. And as of right now, the state attorney are currently reviewing the case. If convinced, her contract will be terminated with WWE.

And finally, that brings you up to date. I know, it’s been a both confusing and bizarre endeavour. However, yesterday KENS 5 producer, Chelsey Hernandez, spoke to Paige. Asking her when she’s planning on coming back to WWE, in hope to finally get a concrete answer. She replied:

"“Hopefully within the next couple of months, fingers crossed! Now I have to get cleared by WWE doctors.”"

As fans still question whether her WWE career has been tarnished, one thing’s for certain, the former Total Divas star still has plenty of time to turn everything around. And when she finally returns to doing what she loves, one would hope, that she starts to focus more on her WWE career, than a failed relationship with a former employee.
