NXT Championship Match
Bobby Roode (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

Result: Drew McIntyre defeats Bobby Roode via pinfall to win the NXT Championship.

Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars

It’s your main event of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Two more fun entrances happened here to precede the bout between the fan-favorite, Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre, who didn’t have the full support of the Barclays Center, because everyone loves to sing “Glorious Domination.”

Roode vs. McIntyre proved to be a hard-hitting affair from the start. Like other matches for the Glorious One, it started very slow and worked its way up as the minutes wore on.

McIntyre hit his Claymore finisher on Roode, which drew an “oh” from the crowd. It’s mostly evident of the pace of this match, which had trouble awakening the crowd. Then McIntyre hit a somersault over the ropes to take out the NXT Champion, leading to the action picking up.

McIntyre got his moment, hitting the Claymore for the second time. He got a good pop. Not the one Bayley received in 2015 or Shinsuke Nakamura in 2016, but respectable.

Then came this pop.

Earlier in the night, we saw Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish take out most of the NXT Tag Team division. Now, it’s Cole. Yes, Adam Cole, attacking the NXT Champion and making his official WWE debut.

Cole’s debut is a monumental moment in NXT history. He’s been one of the best and most popular pro-wrestling stars of the past five years, becoming the first-ever three-time ROH Champion. Accolades include being part of Bullet Club, wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom, headlining countless ROH PPVs, and more.
