WWE SummerSlam 2017: Predictability Could Hurt Carmella’s Potential Cash-In
By Tom Thomas
If you haven’t been living under a rock lately, odds are you wouldn’t be surprised at all if Carmella cashes in her Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam. Here is how to fix this scenario.
There are many reasons to believe Carmella could successfully cash-in her Money in the Bank contract this Sunday at SummerSlam 2017. For starters, the Women’s title match between Naomi and Natalya does not necessarily ignite any real spark. Secondly, with Baron Corbin out-of-the-way, there is no more a threat of multiple cash-ins on the same night. As we all can imagine, two cash-ins on the same night could be a bit too much. Now, the path is clear for Carmella to march ahead. However, it is that predictability that could mostly hurt her.
The excitement surrounding the briefcase is the sense of urgency and randomness surrounding it. You never know when it would get cashed-in. Even most recently, nobody would have expected Corbin to Cash-in (and fail so majestically) last Tuesday. However, the same cannot be said about the Princess of Staten Island anymore. This is especially true when one considers that SummerSlam would be happening in Brooklyn. That is her turf. It’s a story that writes itself.

However, if creative were to get a little playful they could have used this predictability factor to raise some excitement around all this. For starters, Natalya, being the heel here could have easily been able to figure out the threat Carmella possess come Sunday. So much like what the Usos did to Kofi Kingston, Natalya could have just taken Carmella out of the equation on Tuesday. A move like that would have made things more uncertain. Suddenly, one wouldn’t have been so sure of her cashing in on Sunday.
Then, when the time is right, the Princess of Staten Island could have stolen the show. She would have seem like a gutsy anti-hero who overcame the attack and cashed in either way. That would have shown her heart and her guts. It could even have initiated a face turn for her. Dethroning Natalya right after she wins the title would have been a great story. The feud following this would have been excellent.
However, none of that seems to be coming to fruition. That doesn’t mean WWE can’t still throw a curveball at us. What if Carmella were to cash-in her briefcase during the Raw Women’s championship match? It would certainly be unexpected, to say the least. After all, nobody expects Carmella of all people to interfere in that title bout.

If creative doesn’t decide to go with either of these options things could turn rather bland. Not only is a Carmella cash-in all the more predictable, it also takes away from the excitement of her cash-in. They can still play up an attack on Carmella angle even on Sunday. However, without any twists, the story of the first Women’s Money in the Bank cash-in could be easily forgotten. Something tells me that will not be the case though. What are your thoughts on the same?
