WWE: Why Carmella Was The Right Choice for Ms. Money in the Bank

Carmella was the right choice to win WWE Money in the Bank, and here’s why.

A lot of what Carmella says is true. For the better part of her career, she has been overlooked by many and was even the last pick in the WWE Draft last Summer. Now with her winning the Money in the Bank briefcase for the second time in as many weeks, here stock is on the rise.

This is comparable to the push that  WWE Champion Jinder Mahal is currently getting. While the Money in the Bank briefcase may not be the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship but, if history is any indication, it might as well be.

One of the things that go hand in hand with winning Money in the Bank is that most of the time is that it’s a heel looking to take that next step. Both of this year’s winners, Carmella and Baron Corbin are a prime example of that. Corbin has flirted with the main event scene a few times. Carmella, on the other hand, has floated around the card ranging from her showcase matches soon after aligning with James Ellsworth to her rivalry with Nikki Bella.

Carmella as Ms. Money in the Bank is just the next chapter in her career to continue improving, and the briefcase is already helping her with that. Her promo on SmackDown Live following the Money in the Bank pay per view was widely seen as her best work on the mic to date. For those who need a refresher, or haven’t seen it, here is part of the promo WWE posted on YouTube.

In the full promo, Camella targeted the 4 other superstars in the match and even went after the WWE Universe. In a Miz-like fashion, she built her up opponents to make her win seem even more impressive instead of trying to diminish the work of her opponent. And just like I said at the beginning, a lot of what she said is right.

More from Money in the Bank

When people talk about the SmackDown Live Women’s Division they talk about Natalya’s lineage, Naomi’s athleticism, Becky Lynch’s charisma or Charlotte Flair’s great work in the ring and very rarely does Carmella get brought up with that top tier of talent.

That will change, especially if she continues in the path that she is on. Triple H always says “The man (or in this case Woman) makes the title” and Carmella is using that briefcase to her advantage.

Carmella showed flashes of greatness in 2015-2016 during her singles run in NXT following Enzo and Big Cass‘ main roster call up. Her hard work even led her to challenge the top stars of today like current RAW Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss and then NXT Women’s Champion, Bayley.

Just like Carmella said, sooner or later, we will be in the “Fabulous Era of Carmela.” Some time in the next year we will hear her theme music hit, see her hand the briefcase to an official, and then most likely become the new SmackDown Live Women’s Champion.
