GFW Impact Wrestling: Results and Highlights for August 31
By Dj Beal
Eli Drake’s First Promo as Global Champion
The new GFW Global Champion, Eli Drake makes his way to the ring for what seems to be a celebration. Drake won the Global Championship last week in a 20 man gauntlet match. The ring is set with zebra printed chairs for the champion and his ally Chris Adonis. Eli Drake talks about busting his butt for 14 years just to become World Champion. The title is a reminder of how long it took him and the politics have held him back. He calls out all of his competitors including Jim Cornette but Johnny Impact has a bone to pick with Eli Drake.
Impact was eliminated by Eli Drake last week in the gauntlet match. Johnny Impact starts to throw around his accomplishments like the Heavyweight Champion of AAA. As he stakes his claim for the World Championship, Eddie Edwards makes his way to the ring. Edwards makes sure that Johnny Impact knows that this isn’t AAA and that he outranks Impact in GFW.
Jim Cornette comes to the ring to lay down the law. He believes that there are plenty of contenders worthy of winning the GFW Global Championship. Cornette books a tag team match with Adonis and Drake against Impact and Edwards. The winner of the match gets a title shot against Eli Drake.
Mario Bokara and Fallah Bahh vs Ohio Versus Everything
Result: OVE def. Bokara and Bahh via pinfall
Jake and Dave Crist use their tag team abilities to isolate Mario Bokara. As it looks like OVE may walk to another easy win, Fallah Bahh gets into the match. He uses his size and speed to gain some offensive momentum but he is overzealous allowing OVE to regain control. An aided cutter from the top turnbuckle ends the match. This victory gives OVE their third straight victory since they debuted at Slammiversary.
Moose gets invited AAA Triplemania and Ethan Carter II is offended. Jim Cornette informs EC3 that he is busy with a Grand Championship Match. He has a match coming up against one of AAA’s best in Fantasma.
