WWE Rumours: Braun Strowman ‘Expected’ To Stay In Main Event Scene
By Harry Austen
Following WWE No Mercy – where Braun Strowman faces off against Brock Lesnar – The Monster Among Men is expected to stay in the main event scene.
The former Wyatt family member has been a destructive force on the Raw roster for some time now, with many expecting him to win the WWE Universal Championship at No Mercy. Conversely, I previously noted that Strowman isn’t expected to win, however, he is expected to be protected. The report stated that the WWE are “planning to protect him in defeat”.
Now, according to a new report, Braun Strowman is expected to say in the main event scene following the upcoming pay-per-view. And so he should. The thirty-four year old has proven himself to be a major player in the main event mix, having great matches against the likes of Roman Reigns, The Big Show, and even against Lesnar at SummerSlam. The progression this man has made, over such a short period (two years), is incredible.
The aforementioned report comes from CagesideSeats, who write:
"Even if he loses to Brock Lesnar at No Mercy, Braun Strowman is expected to stay at or near the main event throughout the remainder of 2017."
This could suggest a few things. Firstly, it definitely suggests that the WWE have been impressed with his work so far in high calibre matches. Moreover, it also means that they trust Strowman; you can see this by them letting him wrestle the Big Show, whose career is pretty much over and needs to be handled carefully.
The report could also suggest that the Monster Among Men could be getting a rematch against Lesnar, following No Mercy. With the initial note of Strowman being ‘protected’ against The Beast, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see a non-finish, or count-out to conclude the bout. Hence, another match being on the cards.

Conversely, it could also suggest that Lesnar will not be around for a while following No Mercy. Meaning, the Universal Championship will not be on TV (or pay-per-view) – for a short while. Hence, Strowman being the top dog around the main event scene, while Lensar’s not around defending his Championship.
The latter seems the most likely, however, either way, it’s great to see that the WWE trust Strowman enough to be the main event guy – even if it just for a short while.
