Number 1: Sami Zayn destroys Daniel Bryan

I’m of the opinion, such as many other people are, that Sami Zayn is the most natural babyface in WWE. I, again, like many others, never understood why the trigger wasn’t pulled to push Sami to the moon the minute he landed on the main roster.

It was exactly like seeing a delicious Mars bar on the kitchen table, unwrapped and unclaimed, ready to be eaten. But then there’s one guy in the room who keeps telling you “Dude, don’t eat the Mars bar, just leave the Mars bar there, you don’t want to eat the Mars bar.” And you, you want to eat the Mars bar, you don’t understand why you can’t eat the Mars bar, and you’re thinking that it’s a waste of a perfectly good Mars bar.

Two SmackDown Live episodes into Sami Zayn’s heel turn and I have been converted. The heel turn was unquestionably the best decision for his career. It’s like the guy had the Mars bar deep fried and then handed it to me to eat. One bite and I understood how next-level this Mars bar had become.

Right from the opening of the show, Sami went after Daniel Bryan with low-key yet remarkably vicious barbs, cutting in their sincerity and destructive in their validity. His “you’ve become what you hate most” argument seemed to stab Bryan right through the heart, and I felt terrible for Bryan because there was no comeback to something that was so unironically true. What a way to start the show. Absolutely killer promo work by Zayn.

Oh, and special mention to Kevin Owens at the end of SmackDown Live, who is obviously killing time because the show was running short, telling Sami Zayn at the top of the ramp “Hug me! Hold me tight!”
