Dissension between Shane and Daniel
This was a brief segment but it was packed with something great: Storytelling.
Daniel Bryan was not impressed with Shane McMahon’s plan to invade Raw. He was actually disappointed to have been left out of the loop, to not have been consulted for his input. In fact, Daniel Bryan came right up to Shane O-Mac and told him to his face that he straight up disagrees with the decision to go ransack Raw. Shane very matter-of-factly told him that he’s the boss and that he doesn’t have to run through every decision through him.
In not so many passive-aggressive terms, Shane very calmly responded by reminding Daniel Bryan of his place in the pecking order and that he didn’t really care for his opinion. Yikes!
Despite being rather short this was a super interesting segment. There was some insidiously legit character development happening that can be connected to past events. Think about this: What have Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn been saying for the past few weeks? That Shane McMahon is a psychopath and a tyrant. Didn’t Shane come across as a little despot-ish on Monday night? It sure seemed to be apparent during this segment. So maybe Kevin and Sami are right? The fact that Daniel Bryan felt awkward at Shane’s actions just builds this aspect of Shane’s personality even more.
Los of great potential for conflict and development in here. Hopefully, it will lead somewhere.
