Corey Graves Defends Rusev Day
Corey Graves is going down in wrestling history as one of the greatest color commentators to have worked in WWE. Fight me. His double concussion may keep him out of the ring for good, but his unfortunate health issues have been a blessing for the wrestling-watching audience. His sharp wit, panache for storytelling and no-nonsense style make him a beloved and admired member of both the Raw and SmackDown Live teams.
Many years from now we will be making lists of great moments in Graves’ commentary career. At that time in the future we will have to add the moment here where Graves began sticking up for Rusev Day. As Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton began besmirching the honorable Rusev Day celebrations in favor of Halloween, our man Corey took at stand.
It’s a relatively new tradition, he told those his two Rusev Day Grinch co-hosts. He told them a meal is involved. Aiden English sings for you and if he can’t make it, there’s an MP3 available. Corey Graves was having no disrespect of Rusev Day. And in one final swing of his sword-like tongue, Graves delivered the final cutting line to the unbelieve-iest unbelievers at the announce table:
“Every day is Rusev Day, Bryon, you can’t re-schedule that.”
So very true, Corey. So very true.
