The pay-per-view leading into WrestleMania 33 was the Raw-exclusive event Fastlane.  The pay-per-view had its moments, but ultimately left a sour taste in the WWE universe’s collective mouths.

While there wasn’t much that should be considered downright bad, the show didn’t offer much good in the grand scheme of things.  The Cruiserweight Championship match between Neville and Jack Gallagher was a solid match that definitely ranked among the best of the show.

Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn was a decent enough match as was the Raw Tag Team Championship match between Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Enzo Amore and Big Cass.  The undeniable match of the night came between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman with a very good battle that ranks among the best the duo put forth in 2017.

However, the main event that saw Goldberg beat Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship in only 21 seconds really soured the show for the WWE universe.  Many believed Owens got treated unfairly after helping carry Raw over the past few months, only to lose to a part-timer on his last run.

Overall, Fastlane just wasn’t a very good pay-per-view and did little to nothing to get fans invested in WrestleMania 33.
