14. Money in the Bank

Money in the Bank is one of the best match styles the WWE has ever produced.  And more times than not, the Money in the Bank pay-per-view has been stellar year in and year out, arguably providing some of the greatest moments in WWE history.

But as for Money in the Bank 2017, that wasn’t the case.  The event had intriguing battles leading up to it, but failed to impress as a whole.  The pay-per-view featured the first women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match in WWE history, which resulted in a man retrieving the briefcase.  It was a horrendous ending, but the match itself was pretty good despite the ending souring the entire match for most fans.

The New Day and The Usos put on a stellar tag team match as they always do and the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match was very good despite Baron Corbin unsuccessfully cashing in a few weeks later.  But matches such as Naomi vs. Lana, Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton, and Breezango vs. The Ascension didn’t do the event any favors.

Mahal vs. Orton was not a bad match, but it didn’t do enough to warrant being the WWE Championship match at a pay-per-view.  The finishes of several matches were criticized and can be directly correlated to many fans’ negative responses to this event.

Money in the Bank is usually a hit, but for many fans in the WWE universe, the event was more of a miss.
