WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 To Feature Women’s Chamber Match?

WWE will make history this Sunday at The Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but will they continue to make more history at February’s Chamber event? According to a T-Mobile Arena tweet, it sure looks like it.

The area hosting WWE’s Elimination Chamber this year, the T-Mobile Arena, looks to have given away the fact that WWE are planning on having two Chamber matches. And what’s good enough for the guys, as Stephanie McMahon would say, is good enough for the girls – with the tweet mentioning “12 Raw Superstars” will battle it out inside the hellish structure.

The fact that the tweet is still up and viewable to the public suggests that it is factually correct, and not a typo or misinformation – all but confirming that we will see the women of WWE in a Chamber match for the first time in history.

With that being said, let’s take a look at why this match may take place, as well as looking at who may be involved.

In regards to why the match is happening (in storyline), it’s a tough call. Given that the Rumble helps creative choose who’s going to face the champion at the ‘Grandest Stage Of The All’, it doesn’t really make all that much sense to why there would be another number one contender’s match. Unless, the winner of the women’s Rumble is a SmackDown Live Superstar. A good pick for the blue brand, as Daniel Wood suggested, would be Becky Lynch.

Obviously, Asuka is the odds-on favourite, but if WWE are pitching the women’s Chamber to be a number one contender match (which seems like the only option), and given that the pay-per-view is a Raw exclusive, a SmackDown Live Superstar has to win the Rumble.

As to whom should appear in the match, I’d go for Asuka (who goes on to win), Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax, Mandy Rose, and Mickie James. A solid mix of competition, that ends in Asuka reigning supreme and facing Alexa Bliss at WrestleMania, to win her first ever championship in WWE.
