Drew Gulak

WHY IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA, YO
Some consider Drew Gulak to be a shoo-in favorite to take over as the general manager of 205 Live. It’s difficult to argue against that: he has one of the most well-defined and compelling characters on 205 Live. And let’s be honest: having a strong character or persona is key to a successful run as GM. Plus, he’s over.

As far as his character’s compatibility goes, Drew Gulak is what nature intended. It’s as if the character had been created for this exact purpose. We can all easily imagine a 205 Live that would actually exist under Gulak’s Plan for a Better 205 Live. Picture the ego-stroking town hall meetings he would have with staff, the flowcharts he’d use to explain his decision-making process, and the nitpicking babyface cruisers would have to endure as he punishes them for “flipping” or “inciting audience chants.”

WHY IT MIGHT NOT WORK, THOUGH
Most general manager positions are taken by inactive or retired wrestlers. I don’t see Gulak taking a break from wrestling, considering what his personality can bring to actual interest in actual matches on 205 Live.

Sure, you can argue that Gulak could still wrestle while maintaining the role, but to ensure the same mistakes from the past do not happen again, you need to have a good foil. A strong babyface go-against-the-grain antagonist to his schemes would be necessary to make it work and could result in one-off fights. However, with the current state of the 205 Live division, I do not see a strong enough babyface to counteract Gulak’s masterful heel work.
