Will ‘The Villain’ Win The Ring Of Honor World Title?

Marty Scurll seems to be working his way up the food chain in ROH. Over the past few weeks, he has called out Dalton Castle’s opponents, trying to edge his way into the title picture. With the internal struggle of the Bullet Club in full swing, it could be Scurll’s chance to win a world title.

The highly publicised Bullet Club war between Kenny Omega and Cody is the main focus of the group’s storylines at the moment. The other members of the Bullet Club all seem to be heading down their own paths in the search of championship gold. The Villain is no exception. The past few episodes of Being The Elite have shown Cody playing mind games with his fellow Bullet Club members.

Cody got in the ear of Scurll, encouraging him to work on himself and possibly recruiting people that he can lead in “The Villain Club”.  For nearly the last month, Scurll has been inching his way into the ROH title conversation, first calling out Punishment Martinez asking if he can have the first shot at the belt if he beats Dalton Castle.

A few weeks later, The Villain crashed Jay Lethal’s interview asking him the same question after the announcement Lethal would be facing Castle at ROH 16th Anniversary show on Mar. 9. In the same episode, he asks Castle if he can have a shot if he makes it past Lethal. Scurll has also made posts on Twitter demanding title shots and more.

As of this week it has been announced by Ring of Honor that at 16th Anniversary, Scurll will face Punishment Martinez for a world title shot. I have been a fan of The Villain since he was Party Marty and to see him become a world champion in a legitimate American wrestling promotion like ROH would be incredible. Scurll is over with the fans not only in ROH, but also in Japan and, of course, England. If you combine this with his great in-ring ability, it could be a smart move from a business standpoint to put the belt on Scurll.

If I had to guess, Scurll will get a title shot at Super Card of Honor in New Orleans during WrestleMania weekend. If The Villain is successful in his attempt, he will change the whole structure of the Bullet Club by being the only world champion in the group. We will see how this plays out. Either way Scrull will have an amazing match with whoever is champion after Mar. 9.
