3) Ruby Riott

Main Roster Moment: Challenging Charlotte Flair for the SDL Women’s Championship

While in NXT, Ruby Riott had the unfortunate privilege of being a newcomer in the wildly competitive women’s division. With Asuka as champion and Ember Moon as the heir apparent, Riott brushed with the main event scene. However, her call up to SmackDown Live (now as the leader of the heel faction The Riott Squad) has been a revelation. With Alexa Bliss having moved over to RAW and Charlotte returning as face, SmackDown Live’s top heel was Natalya. That is until  the Riott Squad arrived. One by one

they went through SDL’s faces, including Naomi and Lynch. At FastLane, Riott challenged The Queen for the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship. Though she came up short, Riott had propelled herself to a championship match after only being on the main roster for about 4 months. She also had a promising showing in the women’s Royal Rumble.

During her short stint on the main roster, Ruby Riott has already positioned herself as one of the top heels in the business. It looks like Riott is poised for many good things to come.

2) Shinsuke Nakamura

Main Roster Moment: Winning the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble

When WWE marketed Backlash around the in-ring debut of Shinsuke Nakamura, there was a buzz in the air. However, the hype was seemingly way over blown. The match against Dolph Ziggler was fine, but meant very little. In fact, the match TV match they had later was much better.

Despite his less than impressive debut, Nakamura has continued to thrive. He beat both Randy Orton and John Cena – clean – in back-to-back weeks, before challenging Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship. At Hell in a Cell, Nakamura would once again challenge Jinder for the championship.

Though he came up both times, his position on the card seemed solidified. However, at Royal Rumble, Shinsuke Nakamura punched his ticket for WrestleMania 34 when he won the Royal Rumble match. Though it took longer than expected, we’re finally starting to see the true potential of Nakamura on the main roster.

1) Asuka

Main Roster Moment: Winning the First-Ever Women’s Royal Rumble

I mean, what can I say that hasn’t already been said? Asuka is the most dominant female in the history of WWE. She is in the midst of a career defining winning streak – and she’s only been in the WWE for two and a half years.

Having been the linchpin of the NXT’s women division, Asuka has continued her path of destruction on the main roster. On January 28, Asuka became the winner of the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble. She also became the first woman to claim victory in the main event of a Big Four PPV event. The victory secured her a title shot at WrestleMania 34. Though she debuted on RAW originally, she chose to challenge Charlotte because she offers the biggest challenge.
