Killian Dane Vs Lars Sullivan

Result: No Decision

Grade: D

NXT provided us with a battle of the behemoths to close out their go-home show this week. Sullivan and Dane are both very talented big men, but this was a fairly standard big man match-up, with both men just landing clubbing blows in the early goings, before things slowly started to pick up the pace.

Neither man really got a chance to show us what they could do, however, because the match was interrupted. With both men down on the outside, Velveteen Dream made his way down to the ring and climbed onto the top rope, this led to Adam Cole running down and getting a quick ‘Adam Cole BAY-BAY!’ shout from the crowd. EC3 quickly followed, and the crowd were pretty excited to see him hit the ring. With Dain and Sullivan back in the ring by this point, Ricochet’s music hit to a big pop, and the former NJPW star made his way into the ring, hitting his signature entrance flip before staring down his five opponents on Saturday night.

This was a great way to close the show, and Ricochet’s debut got the crowd pumped. A staredown was a better idea than a brawl, as it keeps fans wanting to see these men collide and also builds more excitement for the in-ring debuts of Ricochet and EC3. The match really only existed to set up this segment, and that’s fine because this was an awesome way to close the show.

On the whole, NXT delivered a great little go-home show to build some last minute hype for Takeover: New Orleans. The show on Saturday night looks set to be a blast and is one of the most exciting cards in the brand’s history.
