LAX (c) vs. Eli Drake and Scott Steiner for the Impact World Tag Team Championships

Prediction: LAX retains

You know, I really shouldn’t have been surprised when Scott Steiner resurfaced on Impact television to team up with Eli Drake, but, well, I guess I’m always blindsided whenever Steiner is on a live mic. McKenzie Mitchell was also taken aback a little when Steiner called Konnan a “b****” during a backstage interview on the final episode of Impact before Redemption.

So does anyone actually think Drake has a chance of winning the tag titles with Steiner as his partner? Anyone? I thought so.

But stranger things have happened, especially in Impact Wrestling. That said, I don’t think they throw us the swerve of all swerves and book themselves into a corner with Steiner holding one half of the tag team titles. It just wouldn’t make sense on any level, and given how much Drake has basically buried the tag team scene as being beneath him in promos (recall why he wanted to win Moose’s world title briefcase), this isn’t the right scene for him.

LAX is one of the better tag team acts in the business right now, and they are pretty dang underrated. Konnan has some brilliant one-liners as the team’s mouthpiece, and Santana and Ortiz are quite good in the ring.
