1. Rollins is the right guy to hold the title

When fans reminisce about the glory days of the Intercontinental Title, they think of legendary champions like Randy Savage, Curt Hennig, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Rollins is cut from that same cloth.

The current Universal Champion is constantly M.I.A. due to his part-time status. As the creator’s pet, Reigns continues to get booed out of arenas, even ones that company officials thought would cheer him. Aside from those two and several other big-name attractions, the rest of the RAW locker room is littered with midcarders that aren’t viewed as legitimate stars. The red brand needs a wrestler who can go out on a weekly basis and produce good matches with a wide variety of workers. Rollins is that guy.

With a top-heavy RAW roster, WWE needs a guy like Rollins to have compelling matches with guys like Lashley, Bobby Roode, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens. He also has intriguing feuds with Dean Ambrose and Jason Jordan waiting for him when those two return from their respective injuries. Those feuds would be much more compelling if the parties involved had a prestigious championship to fight over.

I haven’t even mentioned the feud with Finn Balor that seems almost inevitable. Those two have had great matches with one another and with the IC title in the mix, they could be even more memorable.

WWE seems determined to make Reigns the top babyface. While they’re working on that, they have a capable protagonist that can keep the fans engaged. Rollins is the man for the job, which is why he should remain Intercontinental Champion.
