Velveteen Dream Confronts Ricochet
Segment Grade: B
Ricochet is out to open the show. He talks about how he has proven himself everywhere around the world and how he will prove himself here, in NXT. The crowd are really into him, and then Velveteen Dream’s music hits. Velveteen gets a huge response from the crowd as well.
Velveteen takes to the mic and runs down Ricochet. He mocks his ‘one and only’ persona, which gets the crowd chanting the phrase, and then tells Ricochet that he is the only unique experience in NXT. Ricochet drops his mic and the two look like they are set to fight, but Velveteen cowers in the ring and leaves up the ramp to close the segment.
This was a good opening segment, with Velveteen Dream excelling once again and showing us why he is one of the best in NXT right now. Ricochet is not the strongest on the mic, but that’s all part of the NXT learning experience, he will definitely improve over time. These two will likely meet at Takeover, and there is every chance it could steal the show. Dream is one of the most unique performers in the WWE today, and his feud with Ricochet could be just as good, if not better, than his feud with Aleister Black from last year.
