5. Elimination Chamber
Fastlane and Backlash are the only two shows on this list that I would classify as being objectively bad… Elimination Chamber was just barely decent. When it comes to gimmick PPVs like this, as long as the show’s signature matches deliver, it’s hard to complain too much.
The Good:
It wasn’t perfect, but the women’s Elimination Chamber match was easily MOTN. It was excellently paced and full of memorable moments. The seeds were planted for the Sasha/Bayley story, Deville and Rose filled their roles well, Mickie James gave the best performance of her current run, and Alexa Bliss gave the best performance of her career (that Twisted Bliss off the pod though).
Also, Ronda Rousey put Triple H through a table on this night. So that was pretty cool.
The Meh:
The men’s Elimination Chamber match was entertaining for sure, it was just a bit too one dimensional in my opinion. I love Braun Strowman, but him dominating and pinning everyone except Reigns limited the match’s potential. The other guys got their stuff in, though in the end it felt like they were really just in the match to be fed to The Monster Among Men. Also, the classic “Roman wins lol” finish was pretty rough.
Other than that, Asuka vs Nia Jax and The Bar vs Titus Worldwide were both solid championship matches.
The Bad:
Well, the preshow featured a match between The Good Brothers and Axel and Dallas. I don’t really remember it, but I can’t imagine it being very good. Then, like all their encounters besides The Ultimate Deletion, Wyatt vs Hardy was a snoozefest.
In conclusion… Elimination Chamber was an okay show. There weren’t any blow away, fantastic matches, but it was mostly solid from front to back.
