McIntyre Shines in Triple Threat
This match was set up by the opening of Raw where it was announced that Brock Lesnar would be defending the Universal Title at SummerSlam. This led to the typical line of guys coming out explaining why they should get the title match. Kurt Angle determined he would have two triple threat matches, with the winners from those matches facing off next week, and the winner of that match facing Brock at SummerSlam. The first of which being this one; Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns.
Drew McIntyre, for those of you who may not be aware, is pretty damn good at this professional wrestling thing. Drew has everything it takes to be a future world champion, and he put it on display in this match, including unreal suicide dive over the top rope to take out Roman. How someone that size pulls that off is still astounding to me.
Finn Balor also had a really great showing in this match. Particularly the spot of him getting the chair that Drew had used on him earlier to not only take out Drew, but then beat the hell out of Reigns with it as well.
The finish of this match was never in doubt to me though. I was as close to 100 percent sure as possible that this match was going to end with Roman pinning Finn, and that’s exactly what happened. Roman really didn’t do a lot in this match offensively either, which I guess is probably intentional since he was the one winning. Either way though, this match was probably better than anything on Extreme Rules.
