Final Thoughts

Show Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

This was a really solid ROH show, with the biggest highlights being Flip Gordon’s elevation, Cody’s amazing babyface fire, Bully Ray’s heat, Trent Beretta’s return, and the Young Bucks earning a title shot. This show ended up being a big one for all those reasons, as the effects of the angles and results from tonight will be felt for weeks to come as ROH builds towards Death Before Dishonor in September.

ROH also showcased a lot of upcoming in-house talent, with Cheeseburger’s trainees and with Jonathan Gresham having an absolutely excellent win over Shane Taylor. The entire match was built around Gresham trying to get the sleeper hold on the bigger man. Seeing Gresham dive through the ropes and land on Taylor’s back and lock in the sleeper hold again was incredible. It was even better when Taylor walked back into the ring, tried to squash him, but ended up getting choked out. A beautiful ending to a match that was built so well. Gresham is a legitimate superstar in the waiting, and all he needs is a few more big wins like that.

Maybe after defeating Shane Taylor he can go on a mission to defeat bigger men. Could there be a ROH World Television title shot for Gresham against Punishment Martinez? If so, having Gresham beat him would ignite a great rivalry that could be revisited down the line for the World title as well. We’ll have to see what ROH does, but I expect that ROH knows what they have in Gresham.

ROH still has about 10 weeks before Death Before Dishonor, so we can expect to see a few more twists and turns along the way. However, Honor For All was a great start in that direction, and I’m eager to see what happens along the way. All in all, this was a really solid ROH show that saw storylines advanced and built continued towards All In and ROH Death Before Dishonor.
