WWE Announces All-Women’s PPV ‘Evolution’ On October 28

Ever since Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reported that WWE was considering an All-Women’s Pay Per View at some point in the fall of 2018, wrestling fans were buzzing about the possibility of seeing women’s wrestlers of the past clashing against the biggest stars today in one venue. Now, that possibility is a reality, and it will take place on Oct. 28 in Long Island, New York.

Earlier this month, Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reported that WWE executives were contemplating an all-women’s show in the fall. Immediately, fans were excited, thinking up of dream matches such as Becky Lynch vs. Lita and Sasha Banks vs. Trish Stratus.

On Friday, WWE informed fans that there would be a historic announcement on the subsequent episode of Monday Night Raw, with Stephanie McMahon addressing the WWE Universe. WWE has been pushing a “Women’s Revolution” narrative, as they have been trying to right the wrongs of their past by doing more for women’s wrestling going forward.

Many fans believed that this announcement would either involve an all-women’s Pay Per View, new tag team titles for the women, or both. While the possibility of tag team titles for the women remains open, we are 100% getting an all-women’s Pay Per View this year.

Stephanie, Triple H, and Vince McMahon addressed the women on the roster and the Raw locker room by stating that an all-women’s Pay Per View called “Evolution” will take place on Oct. 28 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Per Stephanie, this show will include women both past and present, so that Trish vs. Sasha dream match could very well occur.

This first all-women’s PPV will be available for streaming on the WWE Network on Oct. 28, presumably with a 7 p.m. ET start time. The show will feature the finals of the Mae Young Classic, as well as title defenses for the Raw Women’s Title, SmackDown Women’s Title, and NXT Women’s Title.

There will be 50 women competing at the Pay Per View, so it makes sense that women from the past will be at this show to help create dream matches. I’m guessing we may see a Battle Royal or some tag matches, too, to help fill out some of the card with so many women involved. There should be a healthy mix of these types of matches and tear-the-house-down singles bouts with big stakes, so that WWE can showcase as many women as possible without sacrificing on quality.

I am so excited to hear this news, and I can’t wait to speculate at all of the dream matches, the title matches, and everything else in between. Women’s wrestling is awesome, and I’m glad WWE will showcase it on a PPV, especially after they had a travesty of an all-men’s PPV this year called The Greatest Royal Rumble.
