Impact Wrestling: 3 Potential Challengers for Brian Cage’s X Division Championship

3. Austin Aries
Lest we not forget that Austin Aries would still have two Impact Wrestling Championships around his waist if he hasn’t unified the two (for convenience, I’m sure), so what’s another one?
Jests aside, Austin Aries has become notorious as the “belt collector”, racking up a seemingly endless array of championships from numerous pro-wrestling circuits. We’ve speculated that Brian Cage may become the next belt collector before here at DailyDDT, and now that Cage and Aries both wear the gold on Impact, it may be time for the battle of the namesake.
This match would be a stand-out because as he’s proven time and time again, Brian Cage knows how to work with a size difference. He has the power of a heavyweight and the agility of a cruiserweight.
Austin Aries of course just came off of a program with the 6’5”, almost 300-pound Moose, and outside of that certainly isn’t a stranger to working against performers with considerable size advantage.

I imagine this feud as something relative to what happened with Seth Rollins and John Cena at Summerslam 2015 – Cage and Aries step on each others toes one too many times, and the winner of the match walks out the Impact Champion and the X Division Champion. I would even go so far as to put this feud off and have it culminate at Bound For Glory in October; if Cage and Aries can hold on to their titles for a full year, this could even be worthy of a Slammiversary XVII match.
