8. Andrade “Cien” Almas

Speaking of El Idolo, Andrade “Cien” Almas has been a huge hit on SmackDown Live thus far, and it seems like he’s destined for a run with either the United States Championship or even the WWE Championship at some point within the next year. (The US Title run would come sooner, of course.)

Almas is clearly one of the best wrestlers in the company, as he established without a shadow of a doubt by having tear-down-the-roof matches with Drew McIntyre, Johnny Gargano, and Aleister Black at NXT TakeOver specials. His work with AJ Styles and Rusev, with the latter being an impressive victory for El Idolo, has been solid, and there will be much more to come.

7. Carmella, SmackDown Women’s Championship

I wonder how Carmella feels after losing her “boyfriend” James Ellsworth, simply because the misogynistic fool couldn’t keep his mouth shut. The man disrespected his boss, and that is never a wise move. I mean, it didn’t even end well for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn when they did that.

Anyway, Carmella is still the SmackDown Women’s Champion, but she might be in more trouble than ever before with a hungry Becky Lynch set to face her at SummerSlam. Becky has put in the work, she’s picked up the wins, and she’s as driven as ever to win that title for the second time in her career. Becky’s always had Carmella’s number, including this week when she tapped her out to the Dis-Arm-Her in a dominant performance.

At the same time, Ellsworth has a weird way of resurfacing. And it’s not like this is the first time we’ve gotten the feeling that Carmella’s title was in jeopardy…
