The Phenomenal One vs. The Samoan Submission Machine! It’s about time! Tick-tock is right! This is a dream match in the making, and it’s finally happening; indeed, dreams do come true. Samoa Joe is finally back in the main event scene, where he belongs.
Last week on SmackDown Live, SmackDown GM Paige was supposed to declare who AJ Styles’ SummerSlam opponent would be, but Samoa Joe used his unpredictable persona and killer instinct to capitalize on Styles with the Coquina Clutch out of nowhere. This is exactly what SmackDown needs for its WWE Championship feud, and time is running out on the phenomenal clock for AJ Styles. By the time SummerSlam rolls along, AJ Styles will have held the WWE Championship for 286 days.
I foresee the 286th day being the last day Styles holds the WWE championship for his current reign. Styles has had the title long enough, and his character has grown stale in the eyes of the common viewer. The main card needs a fresh start on the blue brand, and Joe is the best guy for the job. SmackDown will soon be the house that Samoa Joe destroys and rebuilds. Most importantly, Joe will soon be the champ that runs the camp!
