18. Bobby Lashley (last week: 15)

17. Elias (last week: 16)

Once again, nothing about the segment featuring Elias and Bobby Lashley did either man any favors moving forward. Elias is clearly at his best when he’s got a rival with just an ounce of charisma — Seth Rollins and John Cena are the most notable, but even Finn Bálor and Matt Hardy were worthy rivals for the crooner.

But with Bobby Lashley opposite the ring from him? Elias may well be talking to a wall. On second thought, I think he is talking to a wall, the way Lashley reacts to what’s happening around him.

It’s a pretty simple story, but somehow it seems like nothing’s happening. Elias thrives on attention, and Lashley has done nothing but “steal the spotlight” from him. Rather than move on, Elias takes every opportunity to try and prove he’s better than his rival. Honestly, though, with the exception of career accomplishments, Elias is clearly superior at this moment, and shouldn’t need to prove anything.

Instead, Lashley sucks the life out of every segment he appears in, since he’s a charismatic black hole. Elias is killing it for a good couple of minutes before the Dominator shows up to stumble through some lines and throw his opponent around. Lather, rinse, repeat every week. Eventually, things may change, but it’s a lousy rivalry so far.
