4. Finn Balor

We start off with the inaugural Universal Champion, and we are already off to a bad start.

When Finn Balor got the call up to Monday Night Raw from NXT in the wake of the WWE Brand Split of 2016, the lad showed some promise. On his first night on Raw, he defeated The Big Dog himself–Roman Reigns–to qualify to face Seth Rollins for the vacant Universal Championship at SummerSlam.

On the night of the match, Balor’s shoulder was injured after taking a powerbomb into the barricade from Rollins. Balor pushed on and finished the match, but because he has the worst luck in the world, Balor had to relinquish the title a day after he won it, and sat on the bench for eight months to rehab his shoulder.

Because he held the Universal Championship for one day and never even had a chance to defend it, Finn Balor is automatically the worst Universal Champion of all time. Maybe it’s a little unfair to label him as such considering he never had a chance to do anything with the title, but Brock did a whole lot more with the title than Balor ever did.
