MLW Has Bright Future With Big Shows In New York and Chicago
Major League Wrestling has been on a steady incline since arriving on beIN TV and YouTube with MLW Fusion. If you were to shake the Magic 8-Ball of pro-wrestling and ask about MLW’s future, you’d get a surefire response of “Outlook good.” With big shows and a new market on the horizon, MLW shows no signs of slowing!
Coming off of War Games in Fort Lauderdale, MLW isn’t resting on their laurels for a moment. They continue to build toward a huge card in New York City on October 4 with Fury Road and just announced plans to debut in Chicago this November. Indie wrestling fans who were treated to All In at the beginning of September will only have to wait a couple more months to see some of the biggest names in indie wrestling as MLW tapes Fusion at Cicero Stadium.
Little is known about the November tapings so far other than the on-sale date for tickets – this Saturday, September 22. Before we get to November, though, we run through Queens with a show that is already stacked with just under a month to go.
The first match announced for the taping was PCO taking on LA Park in Park’s second match back in MLW. PCO recently went toe-to-toe with Brody King at War Games and lived to tell the tale. Now, he’ll look into the eyes of the Spirit of Death to answer the question – can the inhuman PCO, brought back to life multiple times via car battery already, be laid to rest by LA Park?
While PCO is riding a wave of popularity as his career is being revived, Marko Stunt is cashing in on the notoriety he’s enjoying after having competed at Joey Janela’s “Lost In New York” this past summer. Stunt will team with ACH and Rich Swann as they deal with the constant thorn in their sides, The Hart Foundation in Teddy Hart, Davey Boy Smith Jr and Brian Pillman Jr. Pillman made his yet unaired in-ring debut at War Games while Hart and Smith battled Swann and ACH in singles matches.

With Pillman no longer wavering between The Foundation and Kevin Sullivan and with Stunt looking to make a name for himself on a national level once more, both men could be the most combustible elements in the match.
The former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Strickland will face the winner of Battle Riot and the leader of Team Filthy, Tom Lawlor. There are no titles on the line and no added stipulations – this match is about pride as both men fight to prove that they are the true face of Major League Wrestling.
With Lawlor already holding a shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Title in his back pocket, a win from “Swerve” could see the former champion back in contention against Low Ki.
Finally, stemming from their blowout after War Games, Sami Callihan and Jimmy Havoc will be out to straight-up maim one another as an oldie (but a goodie) is resurrected – Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal. A gem from the heyday of WCW, the Spin The Wheel match will see a board with several gimmick matches segmented out; with a quick spin, fates will be sealed as whichever match the wheel stops on will be the match in which these two maniacs compete.
According to a post from MLW, the match types include:
- Chain Match
- Body Bag Match
- Coal Miner’s Glove Match
- Barbed Wire Match
- 1st Blood Match
- Prince of Darkness
- Spinner’s Choice
- Death Match
- Cage Match
- I Quit Match
- Dog Collar Match
There is no doubt in anybody’s mind that Havoc and Callihan will turn New York into a bloodbath. All that remains now is to find out by which means these two will shorten one another’s careers.
What else would you like to see at MLW Fury Road or at their Chicago debut? Which other dream (or, in the case of Callihan/Havoc, nightmare) matches are left on your list for 2018?
Better yet, where would you like to see MLW in 2019 and beyond, and who should be on those cards? MLW CEO Court Bauer is taking to Twitter to find out the answers to those questions, so let your voice be heard!
